VISD offering summer camps

Victoria ISD’s Office of Strategic Planning and School Improvement will host Summer Academic and Enrichment Camps. The campuses chosen to host summer camps are Chandler, Dudley, O’Connor, and Shields elementary schools.

In January, Stroman STEM Academy introduced weekly design challenges for its sixth grade students, called Friday STEM Day.

For our next Alumni Spotlight, we’re going to share what 2016 Victoria East High School graduate Chase Laux has been up to since high school.

School Matters: Victoria ISD is seeking your input

Community stakeholders are invited to participate in the District Communications Survey about how and where they receive district news, updates, and information. The survey will be open for a two-week period closing on Tuesday, March 1 at 5 p.m. Survey results will remain anonymous.

Choice Expo is TONIGHT

The VISD Finding Your “&” Choice Expo is TONIGHT at the District Event Center for all students and families interested in learning about Choice Schools in VISD. Choice Schools in VISD include Smith STEM Academy, Stroman STEM Academy and Hopkins, Shields and Patti Welder elementary’s Personalized Learning campuses.

VISD Head Start, Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), Summer Programs, Pre-Kindergarten, CLI Early Education Center at F. W. Gross, and Talent, Acquisition, Support, & Retention will also be present, creating a one-stop-shop of information for the 2022-2023 school year for parents/guardians and families new to VISD.

Board Names Director of Secondary Professional and Paraprofessional Talent

The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of Steven Carroll as the new Director of Secondary Professional and Paraprofessional Talent.

At the Feb. 15 Regular School Board Meeting, VISD’s board trustees approved the 2022-23 academic calendar. It can be viewed at www.visd.net/calendar.

In early February, Victoria West High School’s Warrior Speech and Debate team saw six members split into three teams compete at the UIL District 29-5A Cross-Examination Competition in Victoria.
